  2.                  LEASED LINE SUPPORT Zoom/modems
  3.  
  4.      Those  Zoom/modems with leased line capability require MANUAL  connect
  5. at  the beginning of a connection unless using syncronous mode. The  manual
  6. connect is by typing ATX1D (originate) and ATA (receiving modem, also neede
  7. for syncronous unless the line is a ring down line). The line must be a  2-
  8. wire  leased line. You also may use a ring-down or voice leased line.  This
  9. kind  of  line RINGs when one end is taken off-hook. Then you  may  use  AA
  10. (AutoAnswer  ATS0=1) or let the software answer the RING on  the  receiving
  11. end.  You Still use the ATX1D on the originate modem. If you use  a  'RING'
  12. generator on a leased line, the AA (or software answer) will work on a non-
  13. ring-down line.
  14.      If  using  either  ring-down line, or ring generator  the  AA  on  the
  15. answering  modem should Blink OFF when it gets the ring, then  answer.  The
  16. voltage must be at least 40V RMS, and the ring over 17hz.

  18.       You  may  want  to set S10=255 so the modem will  never  hang  up  if
  19. carrier is lost.

  23.      A  LEASED  LINE normally is just an open line with NO  DIALTONE  &  no
  24. RING,  connected at all times. A modem will not AutoAnswer if there  is  no
  25. RING  into  the  modem.  There is a cheap  part,  which  with  a  momentary
  26. pushbutton  & 5vdc input, will output a 5 watt RING, so should work with  a
  27. normal leased line.

  31.      You  just  push the button at the same time you dial  with  the  local
  32. modem, and the modem on the other end will AutoAnswer (ATS0=1&W). You  dial
  33. with  ATX1D because there is NO DIALTONE and X1 tells the modem  to  ignore
  34. dialtone.
